THE PHYSICS OF THE UNIVERSAL WAVE
‘Time and space and gravitation have no separate existence from matter. Physical objects are not in space, but these objects are spatially extended. Since the theory of general relativity implies the representation of physical reality by a continuous field, the concept of particles or material points cannot play a fundamental part.’
Albert Einstein, 1950
there is no particle-wave duality, no difference between your body and the wave that connects us all. There is just a spherical standing wave, where the wave centre creates the ‘particle’ effect, and the incoming and outgoing waves provide continual two way communication with all matter in the universe.
Because we tend to imagine matter as made of inert solid ‘particles’ like balls, we think of matter moving through space as the continuous motion of these ‘particles’. Physical reality is not like this. It is the wave motion of space that causes matter and time. Imagine spherical waves in space flowing through one another. Space has waves flowing through it in all directions, since we can see things in all directions.
The wave motion of space is the cause of change / time. Aristotle realised this connection between time, matter and motion. Our common mistake has been to think of it as the motion of matter in space and time — rather than the wave motion of space that causes matter and time. Connecting the ‘field’ to the ‘particle’ happens through intersecting plane waves in space. Particles and laws[2] are the appearance of the structure of space, and all laws are properties of wave structures in the medium of space.
‘The notion that all fragments are separately existent is evidently an illusion, and this illusion cannot do other than lead to endless conflict and confusion. Indeed, the attempt to live according to the notion that the fragments are separate is, in essence, what has led to the growing series of extremely urgent crises confronting us today.’
David Bohm, Wholeness and the Implicate Order, 1980
When we see things as separate, like the human body, this is an illusion. In the fourth mode of sound and matter, all people are part of these universal wave structures: we are all subtly interconnected to all other matter because we are universal creatures, which is why we can see stars spread across the universe, because we are a part of them, as they are a part of us.
As Einstein said, ‘’Human being is part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. We experience ourselves, our thoughts and feelings as something separate from the rest. A kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from the prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty… The true value of a human being is determined primarily by the measure and the sense in which they have obtained liberation from the self.’
